Built-in Dolby decoding helps further enhance this compact TV speaker’s audio capabilities to deliver a more realistic and satisfying listening experience. Designed with simplicity in mind, this small soundbar only uses a single connection to the TV via an optical audio cable (included) or an HDMI cable (sold separately) and has you up and running in minutes. At just over 2″ tall, the Bose TV Speaker is a compact sound bar that can be placed just about anywhere. And small LED lights on the front of this small soundbar turn on and/or change color for visual confirmation when certain features are enabled. They also blink in acknowledgement of volume changes. The Bose TV Speaker has HDMI-CEC, which allows the TV and this small soundbar to communicate when connected with an HDMI cable. Meaning when you turn the TV on, the TV speaker will automatically turn on too. With this technology, you can even keep using your current TV remote to control the volume of this compact soundbar. However, the Bose TV Speaker comes with its own remote. And on it, you can enable “dialogue mode” on the TV speaker to elevate vocals even more or press the “bass” button for some extra depth. This compact soundbar also is a Bluetooth soundbar. You can also expand your system at any time by adding a wired subwoofer to the Bluetooth TV speaker for a more home-theater-like experience. I had a Bose one piece sound system many years ago. Really enjoyed it. It eventually gave up so I started down the dark hole of soundbars. In about 10 years I’ve had 3 and with each one there was always something that wouldn’t sound right, mainly when someone talks and there’s music in the background, only the music that’s supposed to hang back instead blares like a foghorn and drowns out the dialogue. I have to admit the last one, a Vizio, soundbar only, no subwoofer or surround speakers, did it’s best to keep the dialogue to within reach. It’s main issue was it wouldn’t cooperate with a Vizio TV, wouldn’t maintain a setting if you had the ability to pay it. So, I’m back to the simple Bose TV Speaker. Ya got two settings, bass and dialogue. There are others but they don’t involve audio. It plugs into my Vizio TV via HDMI eARC (cable not included), but it does come with an optical cable and I plugged it in but isn’t required. ARC allows my TV remote and Fire Stick remote to control the soundbar volume which is the only thing you really need to control once you set the soundbar with it’s own remote to be controlled by other devices and the sound setting you like (your choice of two or both at the same time, why not go for it). I can hear music, I can hear voices, I can hear them both at the same time and anyone who says you need a small room to use it in is probably wanting more than the bar can deliver regarding audio. It’s plenty loud. Where I sit fairly far from the TV and the room is kind of open concept leading to not open concept, like rooms elsewhere. I can hear it through out the house. Good bass too. Okay I said two settings but the bass actually has 3 levels. The longest portion of the entire setup from unpacking to connection and listening was the unpacking. It’s packed pretty well. Good things come in small packages they say, this is one of them. I recommend this to anyone who doesn’t require sound bouncing from the holes in their shoes and from the coffee mug sitting beside them. It’s a great sounding speaker that removes the requirement of having to take a course or two in sound engineering and makes listening to TV simple and comfortable and enjoyable again, you don’t have to constantly change the audio settings to work with the video. It just works.

I got this because it’s difficult to hear dialogue on shows/movies with all of the background noise. I was hoping tue dialogue function worked well for this soundbar, and it does! I still miss things occasionally, so I leave subtitles on anyway. Two things I would change would be to have a way to signal the volume level, and whether or not it’s on regular or dialogue mode. (However, if you switch back and forth between dialogue and regular you can hear the difference and figure it out that way.)I definitely give this 5 stars, it does what it was supposed to do!

I used to be one of those guys that thought a good quality soundbar didn’t matter…well it does. I originally bought a good JBL soundbar that lasted about 9yrs. When it broke i replaced it with cheap Samsung and i regretted it…sound quality was terrible and it broke within 2yrs. So I decided to go with this Bose soundbar and I am so glad that I did. I have it connected to my 65inch tv and it sounds great. And when it’s connected to my phone via bluetooth it also sounds great. I’ll never go cheap again on a soundbar.

After recent news stories that I related to about having trouble hearing dialogue on streaming tv, I researched soundbars. I was going to get wirecutter’s budget recommendation, but someone’s review of that (which was quite detailed) gave me pause. I adore my Bose headphones so when this person liked Bose better I jumped. They actually got an older model. I was impatient and did not want to wait for shipment and the minimal additional cost for this model was well worth it. For those who complain about another remote, this model can autodetect when sound is produced from the tv. It was longer to unbox than set up and the dialog boost (a simple button on the remote) is great. HIGHLY recommend.

Everything I would expect from bose it’s a great budget bose speaker. Won’t absolutely blow your mind but for the price it sounds like a million bucks. Bought it to replace my aging samsung tv speakers and I can’t imagine going back. Love the dialog button as well. Can hit it when things get really quiet and you have to focus on what is being said, no more dialing the volume up and down constantly. Decent base and midrange and they even manage to pull off a good left and right feel for such a small speaker would highly recommend for at least your daily TV use.

We have a 50” Sharp TV in the bedroom but the speakers were very tinny sounding and we had a hard time hearing dialogue when the air conditioner is running. We bought this Bose TV Speaker after reading some info and reviews. We are very happy with it.We keep the dialogue enhancer on all the time. It works like magic. The voices come out loud and clear while the rest of the sound such as music or effects are not altered in tone whatsoever. With two small drivers and one tweeter, the sound is very full range with good lows and crisp highs. There is no frequency that is too loud or accentuated. It’s just a very full range sound that is comfortable to listen to for many hours. Some reviewers have stated that the unit gets very warm or even hot, but I have not had that issue with this unit. Perhaps they made some changes. The speaker is actually very cool to the touch all around. Even on the bottom under the power plug.I have a Polk 5.1 surround sound system in the living room which is excellent but this Bose TV Speaker for our bedroom is excactly what we wanted.Highly recommend

I used to always have CC on to read the dialogue, I just keep the Bose TV Speaker on the dialogue setting and can hear the words nice and clear over the background music and sound effects. I’m using the YouTube tv dongle and subscription as my TV service. Everything works via the YouTube tv remote when the speaker is connected to the HDMI ARC port on the tv. The speaker is plenty loud, for a “movie” experience I’ll turn it up to 40/100. For news, I have it at 20-25.

I had to live with closed captioning because my Samsung 65 inch TV always played music and special effects so loud I couldn’t hear what was being said. This sound bar has a setting to correct such a problem and now I can hear every word clearly.’Purists’ say you have to listen to a movie the way it was ‘meant’ to be heard and not use these things for that reason, but how loud a gun shot do you really need?Excellent sound and you can understand what’s being said. Highly recommended.

I bought this to supplement my TV speakers, but even though the TV speakers turn off when this is activated, it sounds pretty good. It’s not going to sound like a movie theater but the bass is good and the sound is clear and it definitely adds to the listening quality versus your stock TV speakers. It’s supposed to turn on when I turn my TV on but it only does that about half the time and I end up having to do it manually with the supplied remote control.

Unit has good sound and I like the fact that it turns on automatically. I wish that when you changed the volume it would show the volume numbers.. Some programs ,especially taped movies have different loudness’s and if you continue watching it a day or two later you have to figure out what volume to set it at.
